Choose the decision before opening Insights A view count can tell you that something was displayed without telling you whether a reader understood it. Use a task card to decide which platform signals are relevant and which questions need a separate check. The examples here are proposed tests, not campaign results. 1. Write one reader task as an action: for example, find the materials list before starting a paper project. Avoid a goal such as “more engagement” that cannot identify a reader problem. 2. Choose a platform signal only after writing what it can and cannot show. Saves might suggest an intention to return; they do not establish that the project was completed. 3. Pair the signal with a small, voluntary task check. Ask someone to find the list without coaching; record the obstacle rather than their personal details. Obtain permission before keeping identifiable feedback. 4. Decide in advance which page element you would change. Compare like periods and definitions, and retain an “insufficient evidence” outcome when the task check is missing. Reader task: Find the materials list without replaying the whole demonstration. Available platform signal: Saves and profile or link actions, where the account’s current Insights provides them. Record the metric definition and time window. Missing evidence: Neither saves nor views establishes that the materials list was found or understood. Proposed task check: Ask: “Where would you look for the supplies?” Note whether the list is found and which label caused confusion; do not invent a success rate. Decision rule: If the list cannot be found, make its heading and route clearer before making another video. If evidence is absent, record “not tested”. Reusable card: Reader task __; available signal __; limitation __; task observation __; proposed change __; follow-up period __. Reader task: ____________________ Available platform signal: ____________________ Missing evidence: ____________________ Proposed task check: ____________________ Decision rule: ____________________ Reusable card: ____________________ Keep task evidence and distribution metrics in separate columns. A successful task check is still not evidence that a platform change caused sales or audience growth. Instagram Help — Insights — https://help.instagram.com/788388387972460/
